Sweet Corn Fest 2017

Today is the second and final day of the 38th annual Adel Sweet Corn Festival, and Raccoon Valley Radio will bring some of the excitement to the air throughout the day.

The Big Red Radio will be broadcasting live from the festival from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. today, giving reports on air, playing music, and relaying important information. The day’s festivities will start early, with the 5K fun run starting at 8 a.m. and going throughout the City. At 9:30 the annual parade will commence from 18th and Prairie streets. It will run until around 11, after which time people can start feeding their faces with sweet corn. The Adel Chamber Partners purchased six-and-a-half tons of corn for the festival, which is available for free until it runs out. There will also be food, art, and craft vendors.

Other events throughout the day include tournaments, games, rides, and music around the courthouse area. The car show that was planned has unfortunately been cancelled, but the semi show and races at the fairgrounds are still a go. The day will conclude with a 21-and-over concert of “The Sons of Gladys Kravitz” at 6 p.m. There is a $5 entry fee for the concert, and it will be accompanied by a beer garden.

Don’t forget, there will be free parking at Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School, with a shuttle taking attendees to the downtown area.
