IMG_20170725_114617Each high school sports season, most teams regardless of sport will endure the loss of senior leadership heading into the following season.

While that is the case for ADM volleyball after loosing the likes of last year’s assists leader Sydney Bertman and other senior leaders such as Lauren Mikkelesen and Brianna Heimann, there’s still plenty of returning talent to be excited for.

Head coach Mary Beth Scott returns all but two of her nine main starters from last year including ADM’s reigning offensive player of the year and first team all conference selection Sami Schepers. The Lady Tigers also return the likes of last year’s team defensive player of the year and fellow first team all conference selection in Jordan Hook.

With so many returning back to ADM volleyball, Raccoon Valley Radio spoke with coach Scott on all the returners and her thoughts as they return for the new season.

“I feel good, I mean we have really strong leadership. You’ve got Sami (Schepers), you’ve got Amy (Gottschalk), and you’ve got Jordan Hook, you know I still say that Jordan is a phenomenal passer. Ellie Mueller is coming back with experience in the passing and the defense. We’ve got a couple juniors back; we’ve got Briann Powers and she has an excellent serve so I’m feeling pretty confident about what we have,” stated coach Scott.

Coach Scott even brings back the rare combination of sophomores with experience for the 2017-18 season.

“We certainly have Josi Lonneman coming back as a hitter (with) Delaney Bertman. They played as freshmen and so to have these sophomores with just having an entire year of experience is really beneficial for us,” explained coach Scott.

Coach Scott and the Lady Tigers continue on with day number five of official practices today.
