There are a few locations around Guthrie County that are hosting special solar eclipse events on Monday.

TheSolar Eclipse Stuart Library will be giving out 50 free eclipse-safe glasses to the first 50 attendees to their solar eclipse viewing party. It will start at 1pm, but people are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs and lunches prior to the eclipse starting. Plus, they will make solar cookies following the eclipse.

The Mary Barnett Memorial Library in Guthrie Center has run out of glasses, so please make other arrangements to purchase those before Monday.

Don’t be alarmed if you see bats or other nocturnal animals out during the early afternoon.  Nighttime wildlife will be active due to the extremely dark conditions.  The obstruction of the sun will also lower the temperature a few degrees.
