Dallas County is one step closer to hiring new janitorial services to clean the nine county-owned buildings.

At the recent Supervisors meeting, they discussed contracts with Reliable Maintenance and Genesis Development. Reliable was the low-bidder when the County sent out a request for proposals, and Genesis is an organization that gives job opportunities to individuals with disabilities. Per the contracts, Genesis will handle four of the county buildings and be paid hourly rates, and Reliable will take the other five at a rate of $5,201.68 per month.

However, the Supervisors stopped short of approving the contracts, as they wanted there to be a uniformity to them that wasn’t there upon first review. The Board will draft its own contracts to submit to the two companies for approval. The hope is to have the new cleaning services start on October 1st. To simplify the process, the initial contracts will cover the period from October 1st through June 30th. At that time it will renew in full-year increments moving forward.
