It’s a busy time for the Dallas County Secondary Roads Department, so they gave an update on what they’ve been working on at the recent Supervisors meeting.

Assistant County Engineer Andy Case told the Board the roads department recently completed the 130th Street bridge project east of Bouton, which is now open to traffic. Case also talked about the recently-started work on County Road F31 west of Minburn. The work started this week, and Case described the timeline moving forward. “Right now the tentative plan is towards the beginning of October, paving would begin. It kind of all depends on the weather. We’re hoping by the end of October that road is open again, and everybody’s happy with the brand new road out there.”

Other large projects include: paving County Road F90 west of Highway 169, which has a late-start date of August 28th and should take roughly two months; and the County Road F60 bridge south of Redfield, which will start September 18th at the latest and take about one month. The roads department also mentioned smaller projects, including: 13 recently-completed culvert maintenance projects; 29 road patches south of Interstate 80; upcoming realignment projects for Prospect Avenue and Grandview Road; and five bike trail crossings.

County Engineer Al Miller said they’ve completed 75 work orders since March 1st, but they still have over 200 on the books. He feels they’re making good progress, but admitted projects have a tendency to pile up.
