After the 2017 season has come to a close, accolades still manage to make their way into Adel for the ADM Tiger softball team.

Recently the Iowa High School Softball Coaches Association released their All-District teams for each softball class and inside class 4A’s West District reside two Lady Tigers. Ashley Tennant is one of five juniors on the roster while ADM freshmen phenom Abbie Hlas is one of just two freshmen total on the list.

Ashley Tennant was a prolific bat for the Lady Tigers this season by leading the team in total batting average at .426 while also leading ADM on the base paths with an on base percentage at .462. Tennant spearheaded the team in hits with 52 on the season while chipping in a team second best 29 RBI’s. Ashley was also quite prolific in the field leading the team in assists on the season with 96.

As for ADM’s next All-West District selection in Abbie, Hlas, the freshmen was a much needed spark both at the plate and inside the circle. As just a freshmen, Hlas led the team doubles on the year with 10 while second on the team in total hits with 43. Hlas connected on 13 RBI’s while averaging .358 at the plate. Inside the circle Abbie was just as dominant putting up a 2.10 ERA through over 210 innings pitched. Hlas allowed just 63 earned runs out of 199 total while pushing across 148 strikeouts compared to just 38 walks. Teams had a rough go against the freshmen phenom with a mere .212 batting average against Hlas all season.

Once again, two ADM softball players earn 4A All-West District honors in junior Ashley Tennant and freshmen Abbie Hlas.
