welcome centerWith outdoor temperatures expected to be close to triple digits the next few days, a cooling station has been set up in Jefferson.

The Thomas Jefferson Gardens Education and Welcome Center is a designated cooling station for anyone seeking relief from the extreme heat. Individuals can bring quiet activities such as knitting, crocheting, coloring and reading while being inside the air-conditioned facility. Water will also be available.

The welcome center is open today from 8am to 4pm. It will continue to be a cooling station throughout the entire time the area is under a heat advisory that’s been issued by the National Weather Service. The heat advisory is expected to last until Saturday. The welcome center will be open 10am to 4pm Thursday through Saturday.
