McCreary Rec Center

The Perry Parks and Recreation Department has several pieces of new equipment in their arsenal, which Director John Anderson says will come in handy with an increased workload.

“For budgeting for this year, we knew that the soccer complex was coming. We also were approached and asked to help out at the airport to manage and kind of take care of the airport grounds.” Due to the extra work, parks and rec asked to have around $75,000 in additional funds to purchase the new equipment. They purchased a new tractor, a 12-foot gang mower, a slit seeder, an aerifier, and a broadcast spreader.

Anderson adds, “You’re going to start seeing that stuff used out in the parks. We’ve been using the mower all over town. It saves time, and then with the seeder and the aerifier and stuff, if it looks bad, we’ll be able to fix it now. And we haven’t been able to do that in the past. So we’re hoping to put that stuff to good use.”
