A Perry man was arrested Wednesday morning in connection to the theft of a Perry High School Research and Design vehicle.

Officers arrested 33-year-old Alan Heywood after getting a tip from a member of the community. The experimental vehicle was stolen some time between July 4th and July 18th, and was recovered near the intersection of 16th and North streets in Perry. The vehicle was valued at around $3,500.

Heywood is being charged with second degree theft, a Class D felony. He was transported to the Dallas County Jail where he is being held on $5,000 bond. He will have his preliminary hearing on Friday, July 28th at 11 a.m.
