Thursday morning, Perry Chamber of Commerce Director Bob Wilson announced he was resigning his position.

Wilson, a Perry native, has served the City in that role since 2011, bringing passion and excitement to the Chamber. He says he’s sad to leave the Chamber, but felt it was time to move on. He will stay with the Chamber for two more weeks to ensure a smooth transition between himself and his successor, after which he will take a business development position with Accujet of Perry.

“I’m going to offer my assistance to the utmost that I can, because I want to ensure a smooth transition. I do believe in the Chamber, I love the events, and I’m not going to leave anybody high and dry. There’s still a lot of work to be done on my end with getting stuff organized as far as checklists and what-to-do’s for events. Things that, you know after six years of doing them, you just kind of do them. I want to make sure that we translate that well, and communicate that well.”

The Chamber Board has formed a committee to find Wilson’s replacement, and they will begin the search immediately. To hear more from Wilson, listen to this Monday’s Perry Fareway Let’s Talk Dallas County program at RaccoonValleyRadio.com.
