Greene County SheriffA Jefferson man faces drug charges following a one vehicle accident Sunday in Greene County.

Sheriff Jack Williams says just after 2pm, a deputy responded to the single vehicle crash on 220th Street near C Avenue. Sixty-six-year-old Carter Fetters was traveling east on 220th Street, when he lost control of his 1998 Oldsmobile Achieva and entered the south ditch and struck a culvert. Fetters and his passenger, 18-year-old Jacob Monthei of Jefferson, were uninjured. Both were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident. The Oldsmobile sustained $1,500 in damages.

As Fetters was reaching for his registration information in the glove compartment, the deputy noticed a baggie with suspected marijuana. Williams says Fetters admitted that the marijuana was his.

Fetters was then cited for failure to maintain control and failure to provide insurance. The Sheriff’s office will issue an arrest warrant charging Fetters with possession of marijuana. Once Fetters is arrested, he will be booked into the Greene County jail.

This is the second single vehicle accident, where the driver was charged with possession of a controlled substance in the last four days.
