Dallas Co Supervisors

At this week’s Dallas County Supervisors meeting, they again discussed the pioneer cemetery ordinance.

County Attorney Wayne Reisetter created the first draft of the ordinance, which was based off the one used in Iowa County, as well as the Board’s recommendations. The ordinance would give the Supervisors jurisdiction over all pioneer cemeteries in the County, and allow them to appoint commissions made up of township trustees. The commissions would be in charge of maintenance of the cemeteries, and requesting funds from the pioneer cemetery budget. Another option Reisetter suggested was to utilize 28E agreements with the trustees, designating them as caretakers for the cemeteries.

No decision was made at the meeting, and the ordinance will continue to be an agenda item moving forward as the Supervisors continue to tweak it.
