Greene County’s food pantry recently received a donation from local organizations.

The Greene County Farm Bureau and Jefferson Fareway teamed up once again for the second annual Cram the Cab donation drive. During the week of June 26th, Fareway customers made non-perishable food and monetary donations. There was also a round-up event, where customers could round-up their grocery bill to the nearest dollar. All donations benefited the Greene County Action Resource Center in Jefferson.

Over $2,200 and several cart-fulls of food were given to the food pantry. According to the Iowa Food Bank Association, one out of eight Iowan’s struggle with hunger. The food drive challenged the public to fill up an entire tractor cab with food. Rueter’s Red Power in Grand Junction provided the tractor.

Greene County Farm Bureau staff were on-hand all week collecting donations from their $10 t-shirt donation drive. Anyone who gave $10 received one of two designed t-shirts with either “America Needs Farmers” or “Farm Strong” on them.

This was also the second year that Greene County Farm Bureau challenged the Dallas County Farm Bureau in the Cram the Cab event.
