Greene County has won a total of two postseason baseball games this decade. Harlan Community has six State Tournament appearances in the same amount of time. The Rams and Cyclones will square off in Harlan on Monday night at 7 o’clock for the Class 3A District 15 baseball title. Harlan won the 2016 State title and is 32-2 this season and rated number one. The Rams are 14-12 and unranked after Friday’s 7-4 opening round district victory over the ADM Tigers. Harlan topped Carroll on Friday night 10-0 in five innings by the 10-run rule.

The Rams led all the way vs. ADM (18-14) and out hit the Tigers 10-4. Ben Wilkins was the winning pitcher with an inning of relief from Dylan Fouch and Austin Delp picked up the save by recording the final six outs. None of the three threw all that many pitches, so all are eligible to take the mound vs. Harlan.

Delp had two hits and two runs batted in vs. ADM and Tom Gannon also singled twice. Nick Breon doubled for the lone Greene County extra base hit, and Wade Adcock drove in a run with a single.

Monday’s winner meets either 16-20 Denison-Schleswig or 14-19 Creston in Harlan on Wednesday night for the Substate 8 title and a trip to the State Tournament.

Both the Rams and Cyclones enter Monday’s game on hot streaks with Greene County winning seven of its last eight and Harlan winning its last 11. The Greene County and Harlan game can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com with coverage beginning at 6:30 p.m.
