Xenia Rural Water District has issued a boil advisory for some of its customers in the southwest Dallas County area.

The boil advisory is for those south and east of Redfield and west of DeSoto, due to a water main break Friday afternoon. It is affecting about 450 customers. Residents in the affected area must boil their water before consumption. Bring water to a boil for one minute and let it cool before using it to kill any contaminants. The water is safe to use for bathing and other similar purposes. When service is restored, Xenia will test the water to ensure it is safe before lifting the boil advisory.

The boil advisory will remain in effect until further notice.
