Severe thunderstorms brought torrential rain and frequent lightning strikes late Thursday evening in northeastern Dallas County, activating the Raccoon Valley Radio Severe Weather Action Team.

At 9:47 p.m. a severe thunderstorm was located over Woodward, 11 miles east of Perry, carrying with it the threat of quarter-sized hail, cloud-to-ground lightning, and heavy rainfall. Three members of the Severe Weather Action Team, as well as Weather Eye meteorologists, were on-air to give updates on the storm as it passed. The storm went below severe levels at around 10:15 p.m., which allowed the severe thunderstorm warning to expire in Dallas County.
