Greene County fell to 4-10 in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference high school softball on Friday night, and to 8-17 overall. Coach Tom Kennedy’s team lost 9-0 to South Hamilton in Jewell after getting just two hits. The Hawks had 10 hits off losing pitcher Hannah Promes. She allowed five earned runs in six innings with one walk and two strikeouts.

Megan Carey and Promes singled for the only two hits for the Rams. Greene County had two errors in the game and SH had one.

The Hawks scored three runs in three different innings. The triplicates came in the first, fourth, and fifth frames. Winning pitcher Taylor Volkman did not walk a batter and she struck the Rams out eight times.

Greene County plays this morning in the South Hamilton tournament. They’ll begin the day in Stanhope at the City Park diamond.
