The Perry City Council will hold two public hearings as they convene Monday evening in regular session.

The hearings are both related to Tyson Foods in Perry, as they are looking to create a truck turn-around area at their facility. The first hearing will involve an easement between the City and Dallas County Conservation, which will relocate a portion of the Raccoon River Valley Trail to Perry-owned property. The trail needs to be relocated to accommodate the truck area, and Tyson has agreed to pay for the construction. The second hearing is in relation to the land the truck area will occupy, and will require an easement between Tyson and the City.

After the public hearings, the City is expected to vote on both resolutions. Other topics to be discussed include: a special presentation about updates from the Greater Des Moines Convention and Visitors Bureau; a resolution approving the cleaning service agreement renewal for the public library; and the second readings of ordinances related to urban chickens.

The public is encouraged to attend the meeting and weigh in during the hearings. It will be held at 6 p.m. in the Clarion Room of the Security Bank Building in downtown Perry.
