A man had to be extricated from his vehicle after a rollover wreck Wednesday night on Highway 141 south of Bouton.

According to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, around 9:45 p.m., a car driven by 30-year-old Rutilo Ramirez of West Des Moines was traveling in the westbound lanes of Highway 141. He came upon another car and attempted to use his brakes to slow down, but could not stop in time. As a result, he swerved to the right and lost control on the gravel. The vehicle left the roadway and came to rest on its top in the ditch north of the highway, with the Ramirez trapped inside. He was extricated by emergency crews. He didn’t appear to suffer any serious injuries and refused medical treatment on scene.

The vehicle was towed out of the ditch Thursday morning, and it had suffered an estimated $6,000 in damage. There were no other vehicles involved in the wreck, and the incident is still under investigation. Ramirez was issued a citation for not having a driver’s license. The Perry Police Department, Woodward Police Department, Bouton Volunteer Fire Department, and Dallas County Emergency Medical Services assisted the sheriff’s deputies at the scene.
