JPRD Board 6_21The Jefferson Parks and Recreation Board met Wednesday in regular session.

The Board continued their discussion of next year’s 20-year anniversary for the Greene County Community Center. Some ideas include doing different programs that the community center offers, as well as inviting the creators and founders to be recognized.

The Board then discussed the frisbee golf course at Daubendiek Park. Director Vicky Lautner said she is waiting on the final cost of materials to create an 18-hole course designed by Mitchell Rainey. The Board also talked about charging an annual fee to play on it all year.

The Board also approved Sasha Hardaman’s request to rent the gymnasium for a vendor fair on either October 7th or 14th.

Finally, the Board discussed the paint chipping issue at the swimming pool. There have been reports of people scraping their feet against chipped parts of the pool, causing their feet to bleed. Lautner said she bought swim shoes for people to wear, while they wait for results from tests from the paint chips they have sent in. She pointed out that the northeast corner is the main problem area. Pending test results, Lautner said she will wait until the pool season is over to drain it and have ACCO come back to inspect it. ACCO was the provider that sandblasted and repainted the pool last fall.
