The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors will convene today in regular session.
One topic they will discuss is the Iowa Supreme Court supervisory order concerning weapons prohibition. County Attorney Mary Benton will talk about the recent statewide ban on weapons inside courthouses, which contrasts with the state legislature’s law allowing firearms in public buildings. They will also have reports from Sheriff Marty Arganbright about the courthouse security plan, as well as a department update.
Other topics to be discussed include: a disability services quarterly update; a secondary roads department update; and parking lot maintenance. They will also consider for approval several permits, contracts, and resolutions.
The meeting will be held at 9 a.m. at the Guthrie County courthouse.
