As ACGC head baseball coach Willie Patti and his Charger squad get set to take on their varsity double header against Ogden, they reflect back at what the past week and the season has brought so far.

In the name of improvement the Chargers will look to better their current situation by eliminating what coach Patti told Raccoon Valley Radio has been the biggest deterrent in the losses, referencing to the East Union game as a possible turnaround point.

” The biggest issue that comes down to those losses have been our freebies. We’re giving up way too many freebies in a game and allowing the majority of those freebies to account for runs so that’s been the biggest issue there in our lopsided losses. It’s something that the guys are finally understanding and something they took notice of especially after last nights (Friday vs East Union) game where we’ve had the fewest amount of freebies committed in a game on the season which was last night. The guys got it and it started clicking in their understanding going ok, we do the right things and do the little things right and it’s going to create for a lot more chance at success and doing things in a better way right there. So I think that’s something where their finally starting to see how the two correlate to each other which is a very good thing,” explained coach Patti

Coach Patti also mentioned to Raccoon Valley Radio what’s been a big part in holding the Chargers themselves back from a string of big run games.

“Themselves, that’s the biggest thing themselves right now. They’re still learning to trust themselves and learning to trust the adjustments they’ve been working on so it’s truly just coming down to themselves right now. They just need to kinda get out of their own way and go out there and be successful,” stated coach Patti.

The Chargers will take on their double header road contest against Ogden beginning with game one first pitch at 5:00 pm. Also in action will be the Chargers softball team and they will being their double header varsity action beginning at 5:30 pm.
