The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn girls soccer team played hard in the heat of Friday afternoon, but wound up tasting defeat at the hands of Lewis Central in the state tournament semifinals.

As heard live on FM 107.9 KKRF from the Cownie Soccer Complex in Des Moines, the fourth-seeded Tigers lost 4-1 to the top-seeded and defending champion Titans of Lewis Central. Unlike the boys tournament, there is no third-place consolation game, so ADM’s soccer season is officially over. They finished the season 18-3, and advanced to the state semifinals for the first time in program history.

Their appearance in the semifinals came on the strength of a 3-1 victory over Council Bluffs-Thomas Jefferson in the substate final, and then a 1-0 (3-1 penalty kicks) victory over Cedar Rapids-Xavier in the first round of the state tournament. It was their second straight trip to the state soccer tournament.
