It was opening day for the ADM Tiger baseball team last night which also doubled up as the home opener as the Tigers welcomed in class 4A opponent Des Moines Roosevelt.

In almost completely different fashion, the Tigers would end up flipping the script from last year against the Roughriders erupting for 8 runs off of 7 total hits and earning the 8-2 victory. What plauged ADM last year was not connecting on opportunities but last night they made the most of all but a couple of scoring opportunities.

On the mound Kade Overton would pitch lights out with only a scaring first inning to worry about. Runners on the corners where no match for the senior who got out of the jam and proceeded to go six inning, striking out nine and walking just two.

ADM jumped out early thanks to a first inning single by Logan Crannell platting one run to put ADM up early 1-0. The second inning would start fast as well with Kinnick Sutton’s double cashed in by Kade Overton which was then followed up with a pair of walks and back to back RBI’s for a 4-0 lead after 2 innings.

The Roughriders would get on the board in the 4th inning on the throwing error and plate one more in the 6th inning decreasing the lead 4-2. The Tigers would answer back in the home half of the 6th as Jack O’Brian connected for his only hit of the night which just so happened to be a ringing RBI double. A wild pitch and Logan Crannell’s second RBI would wrap up the scoring for ADM bringing the score to 8-2.

That is the way the game would end with Logan Crannell shutting the door on the Roughriders as ADM would take the opening day match now with a record of 1-0. Next up ADM will be on the road tonight as they head to Earlham for a 7:00 first pitch.
