For the second straight day, severe thunderstorms made their way through the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area, kicking Severe Weather Action Team coverage into effect.

There were two separate instances of severe weather covered, the first starting at 2:45 p.m. This severe thunderstorm warning covered the majority of Dallas County and dropped quarter-sized to 1-inch-sized hail near Adel. This warning was allowed to expire at around 3:15 p.m.

The second batch of severe weather started at 3:40 p.m. when a severe thunderstorm warning was issued for Guthrie and Adair counties. This storm made its way throughout the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area bringing strong straight-line winds and heavy rain with it. The winds were reported as gusting up to 70 miles per hour and powerful enough to blow over semis on highways 141 and 44 in Dallas County, power lines along Highway 44, and a semi on Interstate 80 in Guthrie County. Additionally, there was extensive tree damage throughout the listening area, and power to the City of Dallas Center was knocked out for an extended period of time.

Ten members of the Raccoon Valley Radio Severe Weather Action Team took part in the coverage for the storms, as well as the Emergency Management Coordinators for Dallas, Greene, Guthrie, and Adair counties.
