Monday evening, severe thunderstorms came through Guthrie and Dallas counties.

The storms popped up at around 6:30 p.m. near Menlo, where it was reported by a trained weather spotter there was quarter-sized hail. A considerable amount of rain fell near Stuart and Dexter, as it crossed into Dallas County. Heavy winds of up to 60 miles per hour and rain were reported around Adel, filling an already swollen Raccoon River basin with even more water. The entire Raccoon River Valley is under a flood warning until Friday.

The thunderstorm warning expired for Guthrie County just before 8 p.m., and expired in Dallas County at 8:15 p.m. Five members of the Raccoon Valley Radio Severe Weather Action Team, as well as Guthrie and Adair County Emergency Management Coordinator Bob Kempf, took part in the storm coverage.
