The Perry City Council will convene Tuesday morning for a special meeting.

The purpose of the meeting is to conduct work sessions on potential ordinances related to urban chickens and fireworks. At the most recent City Council meeting, they held lengthy discussions regarding both topics, but couldn’t come to final decisions on either.

The urban chicken ordinance would streamline the process of acquiring chickens for people living within city limits. The fireworks ordinance will be the City’s first attempt to figure out how exactly they plan on dealing with the recent statewide legalization of fireworks. They realize they likely won’t have time to get an ordinance passed before June 1st, which is the start of when fireworks can legally be purchased and used.

The meeting is open to the public and will begin at 8 a.m. in the Clarion Room of the Security Bank Building.
