A tipped-over semi on Highway 44 in Dallas County

Another round of storms in Dallas County caused additional trouble for travellers Wednesday afternoon.

Straight-line winds topping as much as 70 miles per hour resulted in two semis being blown over on County highways. Both were reported by Dallas County Emergency Management Coordinator Barry Halling. The first happened on Highway 44 near County Road P46, while the second happened on Highway 141 near Dawson close to the Guthrie/Dallas County line.

A turned-over semi was just the beginning of the problems on Highway 44, however, as power lines along the highway were also knocked over. The City of Dallas Center was without electricity for an extended period of time. Additionally, there were scattered reports of tree damage throughout the County.
