With a new sparkling Perry State qualifier banner hanging at the PAC, the Perry Jayette softball team began their quest for another trip to Fort Dodge with a season opening 2-0 win over Des Moines Christian.  The Jayettes used a familiar formula that pushed them to a 6th place finish a year ago at state tournament.   Solid pitching and pop at the top of the order is what Perry used to get past an experienced Lion squad.   Emma Olejniczak went the distance allowing just 3 hits and 1 walk while striking out 14 batters.   Johanna Diw put Perry on the board with a solo home run in the bottom of the third inning and Olejniczak followed up with a RBI double in the 5th inning.

Alyssa Kruger reached base all three times just hours after narrowly missing the state golf championships.  Rachel Kinney added a pair of hits and Maddie West ripped a double.

Perry is now 1-0 and will travel to North Polk tonight for another non-conference game.
