IMG_6803The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday.

Resident Mark Van Houten returned to further discuss his request for a road constructed by the county on his property.  The Supervisors agreed to shape up and rock the road leading to the location where Van Houten intends to build a house, but will then look to either vacate or sell the property the road sits on.  County Engineer Joshua Sebern says it will be re-rocked by July 1 dependent on weather.

Sebern also provided a Secondary Roads Department update. The department has been working throughout the spring to combat erosion, silting, washed out culverts and install pipes and guardrails as county road work is in  full swing. Sebern has also heard requests for traffic studies at Whiterock Conservancy and near Lake Panorama.

The Supervisors also held a public hearing for amendments to the current fiscal year budget. Following the public hearing, the Supervisors approved the amendments as presented. Auditor Marci McClellan shared some of the budget numbers affecting changes prior to the passage.

“We are above and beyond projected revenue, $254,940 about what was budgeted prior to actual revenues.”

At the close of the meeting, County Attorney Mary Benton presented a request for additional clerical support in the 2018 fiscal year. District court cases have increased significantly each year since 2013 and this year is on pace for yet another highmark. Benton’s request for an addition staff member to deal with the mounting paperwork was unanimously granted by the Board.
