Returning the previous season’s starting catcher might be considered a luxury for a high school baseball team, but it’s extra special when that player was also a first team all-conference selection the previous season. That’s the case for the Coach Mark Sawhill and the Greene County Rams with junior Tom Gannon, who hit .351 as a sophomore and had a strong and accurate throwing arm. The Rams were 11-7 last season and hope to get over the .500 mark this season. Top 2016 pitcher Austin Delp is only a sophomore, and several others starters return.

Gannon told Raccoon Valley Radio what he’s been working on to become an even better hitter. “I’ve worked on a little bit more power. Trying to get in the third or fourth spot in the batting order. I’d like to get more doubles.” He added with Delp and other pitchers back, plus several other returning position players, Gannon feels like the 2017 season can be a good one for the Rams.
