The season begins anew for the ADM Tiger baseball and softball teams today commencing with their respective season and home openers tonight.

The Tiger baseball team is once again under the direction of Jason Book as the head coach. ADM baseball comes fresh off a rough year that can only be described as a rebuilding season boasting a 3-29 record. The big uphill battle for the Tigers last season was inconsistency on all sides of the ball. On the mound, while the Tigers were in the upper four teams in the conference in strikeouts, 46% off all ADM’s allowed walks scored resulting in opponents hitting over .300. Offensively, the Tigers fell just short of capitalizing on numerous big innings and out of 218 hits, only 11% were for extra bases.  ADM was on the wrong end of 10 games decided by three runs or less.

ADM does return a core group of players that includes their top five batters from last season and 47% of last years offensive production. Future Northwest Missouri State Bearcat Jack O’Brian is part of that group and an individual ADM will lean upon one more after leading the team with a .333 average and 7 out of the teams 24 extra base hits. On the mound Dalton Hews and Kade Overton will lead the charge pacing ADM with 32 and 30 strikeouts respectively last season.

You can catch the game tonight on K107.9 FM as the Tigers open the season against Des Moines Roosevelt. Pregame coverage will get the ball rolling at 7:15 followed by first pitch at 7:30 pm.
