According to data from Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, Greene County continues to decline in overall cash rent per acre for corn and soybean. The average is at $224 per tillable acre, which is $5 down from last year’s $229 per acre rate. Dallas and Guthrie counties average for 2017 is $199 per tillable acre. Dallas County remained the same price, while Guthrie County saw a slight increase over last year by $4 per acre.

Overall, all three counties are above the statewide average of $219 per tillable acre for corn and soybean, according to the report. The statewide average has been declining for at least the last five years. In 2013, the price per tillable acre on average was $270. There were 1,448 responses from farm operators, professional farm managers, agricultural lenders, landowners and others involved in the survey.
