The Greene County Historical Society invites everyone to a special program this Sunday.

Tom Milligan, a professional actor from Des Moines, will portray his third iconic person from history on Sunday as the Des Moines Register’s own J.N. “Ding” Darling. The cartoonist won two Pulitzer Prizes in his tenure with the Register in 1924 and 1943. Darling was also a well-known conservationist. Milligan will be doing the entire program as Darling and even answering questions from the audience as Darling. Milligan also performed as former US Vice-President Henry J. Wallace and artist Grant Wood.

Milligan says he debuted the Darling program at last year’s Iowa State Fair and has bookings through 2018. It was originally commissioned by the Humanities Iowa program and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.

The program will be at the historical museum in Jefferson on Sunday at 2pm. It is free and open to the public.
