The Perry School Board met Monday night in a closed session for four hours to discuss the soon-to-be vacant superintendent position. During the meeting, they narrowed the field from six candidates to two, but fell short of naming a new superintendent due to a deadlock among the board. Originally, the board planned to name and introduce the new superintendent at the April 10th meeting, but that will be delayed as they host the two remaining candidates for one last interview session to be held on April 13th. The April 13th meeting will be a closed session with only board members present.

After the interviews are concluded, the board will reconvene that evening to come to a final decision. The choice will not be announced to the public until the chosen candidate has accepted the position. Raccoon Valley Radio’s Shawn Kenney talked to school board members to confirm the information from the meeting. The new superintendent will succeed retiring Perry Superintendent Lynn Ubben.
