The Perry City Council convened Monday night. The Council approved resolutions for the continuation of the health, dental, and vision insurance plans for city employees. The City’s health insurance plan through Welmark saw an 8.54% increase in premiums, but will still be under the typical cost for health insurance. Meanwhile, the City’s dental and vision insurance plans through Principal Health Care did not increase.

The Council also approved construction contracts to Jazz Concrete for the Sally Port project, and Correll Contractors for additional work on North Street. The accepted bid of $557,934 for the Sally Port project ended up being higher than the Council initially estimated, but still below early projections for the project. The additional work on North Street will cost $123,996.

Additionally, the Council approved a temporary easement with the Perry School District for storm sewer pipe improvements. Finally, the Council decided to table a resolution that would allow a resident to have a miniature pot-bellied pig inside city limits, because they had additional questions for the applicant, who was not in attendance.
