Perry-Chamber

Tomorrow night at La Poste, the community will come together for the annual Perry Chamber of Commerce Awards Dinner.

Chamber Director Bob Wilson says the evening will kick off at 5:30 p.m. with a social and cocktail hour, and the program will start at 6:30 with a meal catered by Hy-Vee. There will then be a short presentation by the Chamber Board, followed by the awards presentation. Wilson calls that the exciting part of the night, where they will give awards for Young Professional of the Year, the Jack Finneseth Volunteer of the Year, and the Business of the Year.

He says the awards are the Chamber’s way of thanking the businesses of Perry for all they do. “I think there’s so many things that go on in this community that go unthanked, and I think this is the opportunity for the Chamber to thank these entities. I mean, I wish we could give an award to the whole town at times, I think we’re that awesome. I think we as a community could come together and get so much stuff done. But what we’ll do is just chip away at it one business at a time, and we’ll thank them.”

After the awards presentation, the Chamber will officially kick off their fundraising efforts for the Fourth of July fireworks display with a pie auction. Tom Burkgren will be on hand to auction off 10 pies, with all the proceeds going towards the fireworks drive.
