Today the Panorama Panther boys golf team will be back in action this morning as they host an 18 hole tournament at the gorgeous Lake Panorama National Golf Course in Panora.

It will be a mild 62 degree morning this morning for the Panthers to welcome in a ten team field broken down into conference rivals ACGC, West Central Valley, Van Meter, Madrid, and Earlham followed by non conference rivals Kuemper Catholic, Audubon, Ankeny Christian Academy, Coon Rapids-Bayard, and South Hamilton.

Last time coach Hal Rossow’s squad was engaged in an 18 hole tournament, it was their first action of the season and they came away with a resounding first place finish. They also came away with the top two medalists in Kolby Shackelford and George Appleseth. Since then another has emerged to challenge Shackelford and Appelseth in senior Will Babcock who currently leads all of class 2A with a nine hole average of 36.67.

The biggest challenger for the Panthers this morning looks to be in the form of Kuemper-Catholic who currently resides second in the entire state in 9 hole team average wit a score of 151.25. The big kicker there is that the Knights have not played a full 18 hole rounds in competitive play yet this season.

The Panthers and the rest of the 10 team field will begin the tournament with first tee off at 9:30 am.
