Overpass bridge in Grand JunctionThe Highway 30 overpass bridge project has been delayed for another week.

Department of Transportation Construction Engineer Jenny Hoskins tells Raccoon Valley Radio the project has been delayed, due to the Union Pacific Railroad granting a demolition permit to the contractor, Godbersen-Smith Construction. Hoskins adds that this is a formality when an overpass bridge is replaced with a railroad involvement.

The 60 year-old bridge will be replaced with design elements of the Lincoln Highway Association being incorporated. The contractor will also be replacing the West Beaver Creek bridge just east of the overpass bridge with a box culvert.

The official detour is from Iowa Highway 169 to Greene County Road E-26 to Iowa Highway 144. The county road under the overpass bridge, 222nd Street, will be closed for the duration of the replacement project.

The project will now started on Tuesday, April 25th with a late completion date scheduled for November.
