DSCN5863Jefferson’s Street/Sewer/Sanitation/Water Committee met Tuesday.

American Legion Post 11 Commander Jim Andrew addressed the committee about naming the overpass bridge on Highway 4. He would like to name it “Greene County Veterans and First Responders Bridge.” The committee took no action on the request.

The committee then gave permission to allow for a celebration to take place in Sally’s Alley on June 2nd. The committee then heard an update on the east corridor entryway project. Bolton & Menk Engineer Jim Leiding said a public open house will be held on April 26th from 4 to 7pm at the Milwaukee Depot. The come-and-go event will allow the public a chance to see the preliminary plans to improve the overall look of the east entrance on Lincoln Way into Jefferson.

Following a discussion, committee decided to conduct a study of what types of measures needed to be addressed at each of the City’s remaining railroad crossings to continue to pursue a quiet zone.

The committee also decided to replace the current signage at the yard waste dump site with new signs and make it clear on the signs that the site is for residential use only.
