Yesterday afternoon, the ADM athletic world witnessed multi-sport athlete Allie Cook take the next big step in her athletic career by signing her letter of intent to play soccer for the Truman State.

Cook was involved in various sports as a member of ADM athletics most notably in basketball and soccer where she has been a starter for at least three seasons. Despite the excellence she sustained as a member of the Lady Tiger basketball team, when Cook spoke with Raccoon Valley Radio, she pointed to her deep love for the game of soccer that dates back to the beginning.

“I’ve been playing soccer since I was nine at the club level and that drew me in because it was something I really liked, competing at tournaments and things like that. Helped me further my love for the game,” stated Cook.

Raccoon Valley Radio asked the standout senior why she chose Truman State over other schools, Cook mentioned how it was the coaches that won her over.

“This team has had a lot of success but the big thing was the coach. The coach was very inviting and welcoming and he took an interest in me right from the start even when I didn’t think I could play at that level. He’s always believed in me and knows he can play me at any spot and I just like his coaching style that he believes in his players and demanded more from them,” explained Cook.

As Cook prepares to take her talents to the next level, she reflects back to all the coaches from all her participating sports, giving each and  every one a lot of credit for helping her to become the athlete she is today.

“They’ve developed me as a player and as a person. Also I’ve always had a problem with confidence and through my high school career they’ve helped me develop more of my confidence and to believe in myself to help me accomplish my goals,” stated Cook.

Cook has certainly shown the confidence to excel on the soccer field as she will enter the weekend tournament with her team having accumulated 30 goals, 17 assits, and 109 shots on goal. Cook and the Lady Tigers resume game action as they kick off their home weekend tournament this Friday.
