It’s the second day of Severe Weather Awareness Week and today we review receiving warnings.

Dallas County Emergency Management Coordinator Barry Halling says there are several ways that the public can receive severe weather warnings from their smartphones, to radio and television stations, weather radios and Alert Iowa.

“You can either go to public health or my website on the county’s website, and you can sign up for that. It tells you all the different things and as you read through the criteria, you can list what you want to be able to get warned for.”

And remember, Raccoon Valley Radio’s Severe Weather Action Team coverage will be activated anytime there’s severe weather in any of our three primary counties of Dallas, Greene and Guthrie. We are in constant contact with local law enforcement, emergency management coordinators and meteorologists to bring you live wall-to-wall coverage until the threat is either moved out of our area or has gone down below severe levels.
