Many high school golf teams around the state began official practice on March 13, but the Greene County teams weren’t among them. Since the school district was on Spring Break, girls’ coach Heath Telleen and boys’ coach Dave Destival decided to wait until tomorrow to begin practice.

The Greene County teams haven’t had a great deal of success in recent seasons, but the tide started to turn a bit in 2016. Rachael Danielson qualified for the Class 4A State Tournament. She became the first female from a Jefferson-based golf program to play in a State Tournament in more than 50 years. Elijah Block led the Greene County boys. Both Danielson and Block were sophomores last season.
