The Perry School Board reviewed the preliminary fiscal year 2018 budget at their meeting this week.

Superintendent Lynn Ubben says with a 1.1 percent State Supplemental Aid, the District is lucky enrollment was up this year.  The District’s tax rate will be set at $21.51 per $1,000 of valuation, which is up $1.83 over last year.  Still, Ubben says cuts will likely need to be made.

“Hopefully through attrition.  People leave, you know and you don’t hire back necessarily, maybe with some early retirements you get some younger teachers in.  So that helps you financially, for a while but it’s definitely something that we really have to keep an eye on.”

A public hearing in regards to the budget will take place at the April 10th school board meeting.
