It’s Track & Field Media Day today at Greene County High School. Girls’ head coach Kelly Simpson has a squad numbering in the mid-20’s while boys’ head coach Dean Lansman’s team is a bit bigger, in the mid-30’s. The Rams took skeleton crews last week to the Iowa State University indoor meet inside the Lied Recreation Center in Ames, but Monday, March 27 is the first outdoor meet on the schedule and the first chance for both full squads to compete.

The girls have 2016 Drake Relays champion and 2016 Class 3A State Meet champion Megan Durbin returning for her junior season. Durbin also qualified for State last season in the 100 meter dash. Veteran relay anchor Olivia Hansen returns for her senior season, as well as sophomore Melanie Doran and junior Laurin Lyons, both of whom ran on the Sprint Medley relay at State a season ago.  Senior Kenna Marquardt is back after winning the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference title in the discus throw.

The boys have State meet relay experience in seniors Nick Schroeder, Logan Lansman, and Chase Stoline.

Greene County hosts its Early Bird Coed Meet in Jefferson at Linduska Field on Monday, March 27 starting at 4:30 p.m.
