dallas-county3The Dallas County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday.

According to the unapproved minutes from Auditor Julia Helm, at the meeting the Board approve payroll change notices for the Sheriff’s office and public health department.

It was reported that the General Election Review Committee affirmed the findings from the missed absentee ballots during the November general election.  The Auditor’s office is taking the commission’s recommendations under consideration and setting a meeting with the Secretary of State for further training and procedure discussions.

A tax abatement resolution was approved as presented, a vehicle purchase request from Stew Hansen for the Sheriff’s office was approved, along with Board assignments and the appointment of Ted Oswald, Josie Morin and Marty Glanz to the Magistrates Appointing Commission.

A public hearing in regards to rezoning for MidAmerican Energy was then held.  MidAmerican is looking to rezone 150 acres west of R16 north 303 Place south of Ortonville from agriculture to light industrial.  No official action was taken by the Board, they will discuss the matter at a future meeting.

The Samuels Group shared an update on their efforts to educate the public on the proposed law enforcement facility.

Improvements to the 121 North 9th Street building were then discussed.  Architect Jerry Purdy says the Assessor is planning to move into the space around June 1st.

A human resources workshop was then held, followed by an agricultural tax credit appeal hearing where the Board confirmed tha land in question is more than 10 acres and eligible for tax credits.

The Board reconvened Tuesday evening to attend the proposed law enforcement center town hall meeting in DeSoto.
