Dallas County was the fifth fastest growing county in the U.S. from 2015 to 2016 according to new estimates provided by the U.S. Census Bureau.

Dallas County’s population grew by 4.6 percent during that time, and the population has swelled by more than 27 percent since 2010. During the same time period, Adair County lost 7.7% of its population, Greene County lost 3.5% and Guthrie County lost 3.0%. While the 2016 population estimates show that Iowa’s population continues to grow, that growth is occurring in only 23 of Iowa’s 99 counties. Iowa’s population is now estimated to be 3,134,693 people.
