Jerimy GodwinA Bouton man was sentenced to probation for forgery.

According to court documents, 38 year-old Jerimy Joseph Godwin pled guilty to a Class D Felony for forgery and had his five-year prison sentence suspended and was placed on three years of probation.

The judgement stemmed from an investigation that began April 4, 2016 about three $50 counterfeit bills being used at Sparky’s One Stop in Jefferson. Staff called the Jefferson Police Department and Chief Mark Clouse said they reviewed the video surveillance footage from the business and were able to identify the individual who passed the fake money.

Godwin was also ordered to pay over $1,200 in fines, court costs, attorney fees, surcharges and victim restitution to Sparky’s.
