As we’ve reported, the Perry Volunteer Fire Department currently has four female members on the roster.

Assistant Chief Brian Eiteman says in honor of Women’s History Month it’s important to acknowledge the females who put their lives on the line for others.

“Throughout the years these women have done better than a lot of the men on the fire department.  You know, they might not be able to pull as much physical, dead weight as far as fire fighting is concerned or lift someone off the roof or whatever but they know what they’re going to do and they do it well.”

Since the department was started, only 12 women have been part of the Perry fire service.
