As the weather starts to warm up and the spring sports season at ADM high school starts to heat up, there will be a lot of familiar faces at the coaching helms. Mike Whisner is back to lead another successful year of ADM boys track while Bart Mueller aims to bring even more runners to this year’s state track meet for Lady Tiger track & field. Coach Bill Shields aims for a 4th trip to the Cownie Soccer Complex in 5 seasons for ADM boys soccer while coach Kelsey Gaffney also seeks to lay claim to another repeat trip to the state tournament for ADM girls soccer.

Out of all the familiar spring sport coaches we’re used to seeing at ADM, there is one new addition to the group this year as Kelly Roder will take the reigns as head coach for both ADM golf teams in 2017. Roder is an Iowa native and called Spalding Catholic his high school stomping grounds. There he was a three sport athlete involved in basketball, baseball where he helped a prolific Spartan team to win it all in 2000, and of course in golf where he was a winning medalist in two meets and finishing runner-up twice.

Coach Roder has been involved with the game since he was 14 years old and has over 8 years working in the golf industry playing on some of the finest courses especially in Lake Ozark Missouri. He and his family have been members of the Hillcrest Country Club since 2012.

Coach Roder will be returning two of his top golfers from last season in Jacob Schumacker and Micah Moyer on the boys side while also retaining state qualifier Lindsey Lang on the girls side. There are 22 golfers signed up on the boys side while the girls golf team currently rests with 8 girls signed up for the 2017 season.

The Lady Tigers will get the honors of first competition for ADM when they head to Norwalk on April 1st taking on a 7 team field at the Warrior Run Golf Course.
